E-Commerce & Shopify Development FAQ
Straight answers beforeyou build the store
Straight answers on Shopify and headless builds, pricing, timelines, and the conversion and retention outcomes that pay for the store.
What does e-commerce and Shopify development include?
We design and build the full store: merchandising and collection structure, product and category pages, cart and checkout UX, theme or headless front-end, payments, subscriptions, and marketplace and app integrations. MarkAge360 works on Shopify, Shopify Plus, and headless commerce, and we tie every screen to a measurable job — conversion rate, average order value, or retention — rather than just shipping a template.
How much does a Shopify store cost, and how is it priced?
Pricing depends on scope: a focused theme build with custom sections costs far less than a Shopify Plus or headless storefront with subscriptions, ERP, and multi-market logic. We scope each project to a fixed price or a phased build after a short discovery call, so you see the number before work starts. Platform fees (your Shopify plan, apps, and payment processing) are separate from our build fee, and we flag those early so there are no surprises.
How long does it take to launch a store?
A streamlined Shopify storefront typically launches in a few weeks; a larger catalogue, custom checkout on Plus, subscriptions, or a headless build runs longer. After discovery we give you a milestone timeline covering design, build, content and product loading, QA, and launch. We work in reviewable stages so you can see and approve the store as it comes together rather than waiting for one big reveal.
Shopify or a headless build — which should I choose?
For most merchants, standard Shopify or Shopify Plus is faster to launch, cheaper to maintain, and powerful enough to grow with. Headless makes sense when you need a highly custom front-end, content-heavy storytelling, multiple front-ends from one catalogue, or performance gains that a theme can't reach. We recommend the lighter option that meets your goals and only go headless when the business case is real, so you aren't paying for complexity you won't use.
Can you migrate my existing store without losing SEO?
Yes — protecting SEO is a core part of any migration. We map every old URL to its new one with 301 redirects, preserve titles, metadata, and structured data, and keep product and collection content intact so rankings carry over. We also QA the new store in a staging environment and watch search and analytics after launch to catch any drop early and correct it.
How do you measure whether the store is working?
We instrument the store with clean analytics and conversion tracking from day one, then judge it on revenue outcomes: conversion rate, average order value, checkout completion, and repeat-purchase rate — not vanity traffic. We agree on the metrics that matter before launch and review them with you afterward, using that data to prioritise the next round of conversion and retention improvements.
