GMAC · GMAT
Higher Education Marketing from one region to four.
What began with one of GMAT’s most difficult regional assignments became a multi-year growth partnership spanning the Middle East, Africa, India, Southeast Asia, Europe, and East Asia. MarkAge360 built the system behind it: country-level demand modeling, full-funnel media, local partnerships, programmatic audiences, creative localization, and HubSpot automation, managed as one connected operation.
Rated 5.0 by GMAC on Clutch.
MarkAge360’s efforts for integrated higher education marketing with programmatic media buying have resulted in a notable increase in qualified leads generated through performance marketing campaigns. Conversion rates and CTR for paid advertising channels improve significantly. They have exhibited excellent project management skills and maintained effective communication. They showcased excellent turnaround time.
GMAC’s review credits the engagement with increasing qualified leads, significantly improving paid-media click-through and conversion rates, strengthening CPA and ROAS performance, and identifying untapped market opportunities across targeted countries. The reviewer confirms MarkAge360’s scope: performance strategy, market research, campaign implementation, conversion and lead optimization, multi-region execution, HubSpot management, and measurement and reporting, delivered by a fourteen-person specialist team.
A deliberate test that became a pattern.
One difficult region became four. Every expansion earned through performance, never won on a pitch.
The relationship began with Study in India 2018, where MarkAge360 delivered 12,000+ qualified leads against a target of 10,000. GMAC’s response was not a congratulations email. It was the Middle East & Africa mandate: one of global education marketing’s most fragmented regions, on a deliberate one-year test contract. We delivered in that region and earned a longer mandate. MEA’s performance won a two-year renewal and India & Southeast Asia. India’s performance, achieved under direct competitive pressure, won Europe in 2020. East Asia followed as a turnaround assignment after an incumbent global agency, with limited usable historical data and no reliable regional playbook. This was not expansion won through a pitch. It was expansion earned through performance, three times over.
- 2018 · Study in India: 12,000+ leads vs a 10,000 target. The beat that won the GMAT mandate.
- 01 · Middle East & Africa, the one-year test: fragmented markets, uneven awareness, different paths to registration.
- 02 · India & Southeast Asia: a contested growth mandate demanding lead relevance at lower acquisition cost.
- 03 · Europe: a mature consideration market requiring decision-stage precision.
- 04 · East Asia: a turnaround built from limited data, local platforms, and country-specific models.
The engagement, by the numbers.
Seven years, four regional mandates, one connected operating system — begun at King Crescent, continued at MarkAge360. Every figure below is drawn from delivered reporting.
To protect client confidentiality, MarkAge360 does not disclose absolute media budgets, contracted rates, or acquisition costs; results are expressed as indexed growth, efficiency against approved benchmarks, target attainment, and aggregate volumes.
Four regions, one operating system: from country intelligence to exam registration.
The GMAT is a global product, but the route to registration is intensely local. A student in Lagos does not need the same argument as a working professional in Dubai; a candidate in Seoul is not reached through the same platforms as one in Mumbai.
The machine behind it.
Five capabilities agencies usually manage separately, connected as one. MarkAge360 did not build one campaign per region. We built a Regional Operating System capable of changing by country.
Country intelligence
Before allocating media for study abroad ads, every country was analyzed on demand for higher education, audience response, lead quality, account creation, registration behavior, platform costs, and market maturity, then classified by role: conversion-ready, consideration, awareness-building, controlled-test opportunity, or local-platform specialist. Budget followed observed potential, never regional assumption.
Full-funnel architecture
Every campaign was designed around the next meaningful action: qualified reach and web uniques for awareness; HubSpot leads, preparation resources, and mba.com account creation for consideration; preparation purchases, returning-user activity, and exam registration for decision. A low-cost form fill was never allowed to masquerade as a candidate moving closer to the exam.
Media and programmatic activation
Google Search, Display, and Performance Max; YouTube; Meta; LinkedIn; RLSA and returning-user search; native and programmatic inventory through AdRoll and Dable; Oracle DMP, Lotame, and Tapad where platform-native targeting could not deliver the required precision or cross-device continuity; and local-market platforms where the duopoly wasn’t the default.
HubSpot automation and attribution
Campaign-specific landing pages, contact capture and segmentation, strict UTM governance, first-touch and follow-up workflows, non-opener resend logic, CRM-list retargeting, and regional reporting. The system measured awareness, consideration, intent, and registration as different outcomes, and optimized budget toward the one that mattered at each stage. Individual candidate journeys are attributed end to end, including candidates first reached in 2021 who registered four years later.
Local partnerships
Where awareness and trust could not be created through paid media alone, schools, educational institutions, preparation organizations, affiliates, MBA communities, and events brought candidates into measurable digital journeys. Partners were evaluated on downstream action, never traffic.
We did not A/B test ads. We A/B tested the growth system.
Country and city clusters. English versus local-language execution. Awareness, consideration, and decision propositions. Search, social, display, video, native, and programmatic inventory. Broad, interest, lookalike, CRM, and retargeting audiences. New-user versus returning-user structures. Formats, landing pages, forms, email sequences and resend logic, affiliate sources, retargeting windows, pacing. 1,500+ ad variants across 100+ creative sets came out of that discipline, and every test answered one commercial question: which combination moves a relevant candidate closer to the next meaningful action? When the evidence changed, the system changed with it.
Deliver in one region. Earn the next.
Prove it where it’s hardest, and the next mandate follows, four times over.
Middle East & Africa
Build the market before optimizing it.
Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Kuwait, and Turkey could not be treated like Nigeria, Kenya, Ghana, or South Africa. English, Arabic, and Turkish executions played different roles. In parts of Africa the barrier was not MBA ambition. It was connecting that ambition to the GMAT, relevant scholarships, and a realistic route to international education.
Country-level demand and performance models. Separated awareness, consideration, and registration activity. An ultra-low-cost awareness engine delivering engaged visitors for as little as two to three cents each. Scholarship-led campaigns built around genuine access barriers, and a dedicated women-focused campaign track that grew into a multi-region program.
Programmatic audiences extended reach beyond standard targeting, and budget reallocated continuously toward the strongest country-channel combinations.
Then the stress test no plan anticipates: the pandemic closed test centres in 2020 and regional registrations fell by roughly a third. Within weeks, the funnel pivoted to the newly launched GMAT Online exam: 1,800+ online-exam registrations in the first nine months of a format that hadn’t existed the quarter before.
70%+ below approved cost-per-lead benchmarks across documented multi-month African campaigns (90%+ in the strongest months).
47–85% CPL reduction across every market-channel cell of one always-on program, in nine months.
1,800+ GMAT Online registrations through the pandemic pivot.
The one-year assignment became a two-year mandate, and earned India & Southeast Asia.

India & Southeast Asia
More leads were not the answer. Better leads were.
Awareness already existed for studying abroad; competition was the constraint. The GRE was expanding, the CAT was deeply established, and large lead volumes were possible without enough candidates likely to progress. MarkAge360 shifted the center of gravity from reach to relevance.
GMAT-vs-GRE and GMAT-vs-CAT consideration tracks met the competitive question head-on. Metro, non-metro, and a dedicated Tier 2/3 cities program that became one of the highest-converting campaigns in the slate.
20–25 campaigns per year per market, tested across proposition, geography, language, audience, format, landing page, and source. Ten-plus of India’s largest education platforms (the Shiksha, Collegedunia, GetMyUni, Hitbullseye, IMS, Careers360 tier) each held to its own negotiated cost floor and rotated out on data.
Women’s scholarship campaigns run year after year, and every source evaluated on downstream relevance, never front-end CPL alone.
12,000+ leads in one documented six-month run. Core Google Display at 69–86% below the approved benchmark every single month.
Every campaign on the broader 2022 slate 20–70% under its committed benchmark.
One long-running preparation funnel: 65,752 submissions · 39,023 new contacts · 3,721 tracked customers. Its successor added 37,000+ more.
+6% lead growth and +13% qualified-traffic growth in the pandemic year: 2.8M+ unique visitors that year, 5M+ across two.
India’s performance earned the Europe mandate.

Europe
Let behavior choose the creative.
A more considered candidate: evaluating MBA and Masters-in-Management pathways, researching applications, using practical preparation resources.
The slate was built on decision-stage assets (application checklists, the official eight-week planner, dedicated MiM content), with static, carousel, video, search, and display formats tested against the same commercial objective. Rather than assume which creative would convert a research-driven candidate, we let behavior, and cost per lead, pick the winner.
One video format generated approximately 98% of recorded MiM leads, outperforming every other tested format by 3–5x on cost per lead; selected funnels beat their lead targets while finishing materially under planned cost envelopes.
Europe proved the operating system transfers, without copying a single audience assumption, creative logic, or media architecture from any other region.
East Asia
Build the baseline. Then beat it.
East Asia arrived with limited usable historical data and no dependable playbook for higher education marketing, having previously been managed by a much larger agency, across markets where the world’s default ad platforms aren’t the default at all.
Country, audience, platform, and funnel baselines built from zero. Core markets (South Korea, Vietnam, Indonesia) separated from opportunity markets like Thailand, Japan, Singapore, Malaysia, and the Philippines. Korean, Vietnamese, and Thai executions built per market, not translated for study abroad advertisement.
The channel map went far beyond the duopoly: Naver, Kakao, Blind, and Everytime in Korea; LINE in Japan and Thailand; Zalo in Vietnam; TikTok and Snapchat region-wide; Dable native placements and AdRoll retargeting. Local partners (Korean MBA communities, Bangkok’s SASIN Graduate Institute) were connected to separately maintained conversion evidence, and a 47,000-profile remarketing audience refreshed daily powered the decision campaigns.
And the optimization never stopped: when RLSA out-converted display remarketing, the weaker structure was paused and budget moved.
5x lead volume and 13x lower acquisition cost within the first twelve months against the prior baseline.
29% more leads than target at 42% below the approved weighted benchmark across a measured three-month window.
14,000+ leads across ten documented campaign tracks in a single year.
3.1x growth in monthly exam conversions, January to October 2025. 300+ registrations individually attributed in 2024.

Why it worked.
Women-focused acquisition
A strategic program, not a demographic filter: women-specific preparation support, scholarship handbooks, working-professional messaging, and registration pathways, expanded across regions and years, powered by a 45,000-strong women-only audience.
Scholarship-led journeys
In Africa and other access-sensitive markets, campaigns connected stronger scores with financing routes, global programs, and named scholarships, helping suitable candidates see the exam as part of an achievable pathway.
Tier 2/3 demand
In India, dedicated programs expanded consideration beyond metro audiences, with messaging and propositions adapted to different information sources and decision paths.
Local affiliate ecosystems
In East Asia, partners were measurable acquisition sources: source-level conversion evidence, not traffic, decided who stayed in the system.
Hired for one region. Trusted with four.
The clearest result is not one campaign metric. It is the shape of the relationship, and the client’s own verified words. MarkAge360 began with one difficult regional assignment. Performance earned a longer mandate. One region became two, then three, then four.
What GMAC keeps runs deeper than any campaign: a full-funnel attribution architecture, six first-party audience assets, a creative system localized across four languages, channel maps for markets most agencies never learn to buy, and a measurement hierarchy that never lets a cheap lead impersonate a real candidate. That is what education growth looks like when strategy, media, creative, partnerships, CRM, and measurement work as one.

GMAC expanded the mandate four times. On numbers.
Every regional award came down to delivered results, not a pitch. If your funnel needs the same rigor of country-level demand modeling, full-funnel discipline, and testing that follows the evidence, let’s talk about what we can do for yours.
